ICCN’s focus on The GAP Program® and how to bridge the digital divide inspires our engineering teams to develop other connectivity methods to reach less connected communities.  To accomplish that task, our teams in conjunction with our technology partners expand our wireless solutions into more specialized radio frequencies designed to reduce barriers such as environment, distance, and interference, among others.

Accomplishing that objective requires technology that reaches further and utilize newly available spectrum allocated by various governmental agencies.  ICCN meets those needs with two advanced solutions that address different RF spectrum needs but compliments the rest of our product line, delivering the most complete set of RF spectrum support by any vendor in the industry.

CBRS LTE – 3.5GHz

Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) is a 150 MHz wide broadcast band of the 3.5 GHz band (3550 MHz to 3700 MHz) in the United States. This newly available band provides another tool for service providers and other entities to bridge the digital divide, enable enterprise private LTE networks, and increase mobility across all market segments.  The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) completed a process which began in 2012 to establish rules for commercial use of this band.

New rules allow CBRS networks to be able to deploy 5G mobile networks without having to acquire spectrum licenses.

Education Broadband Services (EBS – 2.5GHz)

EBS Spectrum makes up one of the largest prime spectrum bands allocated by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for advanced wireless services in the U.S. The band is licensed on a geographic service area (GSA) basis only to accredited educational institutions and nonprofit entities whose missions are educational. The typical GSA footprint for an EBS license extends in a circle 35 miles out from a central point in a market area and the spectrum bandwidth is 22.5 megahertz (MHz) per typical channel group/license. There exist five EBS channel group licenses in each market area for a total of 112.5 MHz of EBS spectrum per market area.
