3.4 Commands for Super VLAN

3.4.1 supervlan

Command: supervlan
no supervlan
Function: Set a VLAN as a supervlan. The no command restores the default configuration.
Parameters: None.
Command mode: VLAN Configuration Mode
Default: No configuration.
Usage guide: Set a VLAN (except subvlans) as a supervlan to be filtered automatically when setting a trunk port. No port can belong to the VLAN being configured as a supervlan.
Example: Set vlan2 as a supervlan.

3.4.2 subvlan

Command: subvlan WORD
no subvlan {WORD | all}
Function: Set a VLAN as a subvlan. The no command restores to default.
Parameters:

  • WORD: the VLAN ID. Use dashes and semicolons to connect VLANs.
  • all: indicates all subvlans.

Command mode:VLAN Configuration Mode
Default: None.
Usage guide:To set a VLAN as a subvlan, it must first be configured as a normal VLAN. The VLAN shoul not be associated as a subvlan of another supervlan or designated as a supervlan. Each supervlan can establish mapping relations with 127 subvlans. The switch can set a maximum of 1024 supervlans.
Example: Set vlan3 as a subvlan.

3.4.3 arp-proxysubvlan

Command: arp-proxy subvlan {WORD | all}
no arp-proxy subvlan {WORD | all}
Function: Enable the ARP proxy function of the subvlan. The flow received by this VLAN can be forwarded to other subvlans. The no command restores to default.
Parameters:

  • WORD: VLAN ID. Use dashes and semicolons to connect VLANs.
  • All: selects all subvlans.

Command mode: Interface Configuration Mode
Default: None.
Usage guide: From the supervlan interface, the flow received by the specified VLAN can be forwarded to other subvlans. When the switch receives an ARP REQUEST from this VLAN, it uses its MAC to send an ARP REPLY and forwards the flow through the switch.
Example: Enable ARP-proxy function of all subvlans on vlan2.

3.4.4 ip-addr-range subvlan

Command: ip-addr-range subvlan <vlan-id> <ipv4-address> to <ipv4-address>
no ip-addr-range subvlan <vlan-id>
Function: Configure the specified IP address range for a subvlan. The no command restores to default.
Parameters:

  • <vlan-id>: VLAN ID. The valid range is between 1 and 4094.
  • <ipv4-address>: IPv4 address in dotted decimal notation. The valid range is from 0 to 255.

Command mode: Interface Configuration Mode
Default: No address range.
Usage guide: After the switch receives packages from a subvlan within the address range, it will check whether the destination IP address of the package is within the address range before sending the ARP request. If the IP address is not within the address range, the switch will not send an ARP request.
Example: Set the address range of subvlan3.

3.4.5 ip-addr-range

Command: ip-addr-range <ipv4-address> to <ipv4-address>
no ip-addr-range
Function: Configure the specified address range for an interface. The no command restores to default.
Parameters:

  • <ipv4-address>: IPv4 address in dotted decimal notation (xx.xx.xx.xx). The valid range in each section is from 0 to 255.

Command mode: Interface Configuration Mode
Default: No address range.
Usage guide: After the switch receives packets from an interface within the address range, it will check whether the destination IP address is within the address range before sending an ARP request. If the destination IP address is not within the address range, the switch will not send an ARP request. If the interface belongs to a supervlan but the requested IP address is not within the address range, it will not forward an ARP request.
Example: Set an address range for the interface vlan2.

3.4.6 show supervlan

Command: show supervlan [<vlan-id>] Function: Show the super VLAN configuration.
Parameters:

  • <vlan-id>: VLAN ID number. The valid range is from 1 to 4094.

Command mode: Admin Mode
Default: None.
Usage guide: If no VLAN ID is specified, all supervlan configurations will be shown.
Example: Show the current supervlan configuration.
